Considering how we evaluate the effectiveness of Early Years practice and provision through the outcomes that children demonstrate lies at the heart of successful monitoring and evaluation.

It is the impact that teaching and provision have on children’s learning and development that provides the core focus for rigour, standards, attainment and achievement. Understanding both the different process of assessment in Early Years – how we can reliably obtain the information – and the content – what needs to be assessed – is central to this.
