The film compares building with bricks and blocks in nursery and reception, each filmed for around twenty minutes.

Our nursery child is only a few weeks into her school career and prefers to work alone with a deliberately limited set of resources. The reception children work together with sophisticated collaboration and talk, enabling them to problem solve together. The activity is resourced to enable mark-making and writing in response to their building. There is also the possibility of consulting factual texts. The teacher skilfully poses a challenge having watched the activity develop without intervention for the first fifteen minutes.
